Lemon Tart Diary

I don’t know if I’m just getting in the winter break mood or what, but I found this post by Annie of Lemon Tart Diary just delicious! She’s using this blog to explore her loves for cooking and writing and also to promote her business, AnnieCakes.

The Writing Center already has a blog writing handout with tips. Annie’s post can serve as an example of those tips in action.

Why COOKIE OVERLOAD: Share, Ship and Shwap is a yummy post:

  1. It’s about cookies. Seriously, if you want to write a blog that will gain readership, write about something people want to hear about. Better yet, write about something you care about, and others will likely care about it, too. (I’m waiting for the day e-portfolios will be all the buzz!)
  2. She’s using LOTS of photos, and they are lovely ones at that! Kodak.com has some excellent tips on how to take good photos. They cover basics like composition and lighting, as well as specialized topics like profile pics, food photography, and babies (you know I had to link them…).

  3. Not only is Annie using lots of beautiful photos, but she’s mixing the text in with the photos. What do I see when I scroll down? Short text, photo, short text, photo… the variety compels me to keep reading.

See anything else successful about this post? What’s another post you’ve enjoyed reading and why does it work?

Happy winter break!
